Student Drivers
All student drivers must have submitted an application (available in the BHHS office and the main office), as well as made the purchase of a parking tag to park on the James Lawson Campus.
Any car parked on campus without a parking tag displayed on their rearview will be stickered and fined. Loaning or "borrowing" a tag that doesn't belong to the registered car is prohibited.
Where Should Student Drivers Park?
Students that drive to Lawson should continue straight at the stop sign. Note: In the mornings, this is a one-way route. In the evenings, the route becomes a one-way route to exit. Drivers will follow along the far-left lane and proceed along the front of the building to the South or West parking lot. Anyone in the West lot must have purchased an assigned parking space.
Purchasing a Parking Tag
All students who drive to school must display a valid Lawson student parking pass clearly in their vehicle. Passes will be available for purchase during the first few weeks of school, and students are expected to obtain one by the end of August to avoid receiving a ticket.
There are two types of passes available: open parking and reserved/customized parking. For more information, please see Mr. Terry Strickland or click the links provided below.

Painting a Reserved Parking Space
Students who have purchased a reserved spot in the West lot may paint their space in accordance with the guidelines provided.
- All designs/pictures/words/etc. must be school appropriate. If not, it will be painted over, and you will not have the option to repaint.
- All painting supplies must be provided by student and cleaned up after painting.
- If painting on a non-school day, you will not have access to the building. Bring what you need with you.
- Have fun! We can’t wait to see your creativity!
Please email Dr. Danielle Holdren with any questions.
Car Riders
Where is Car Rider Drop Off/Pick Up?
The North Parking lot loop has been designated for car riders. Upon entering the JLHS campus, drivers should take a right at the stop sign and proceed up the hill. Follow the loop around the North lot, where car riders are dropped off beside the North doors. Students can then enter through these doors. After drop-off, drivers should continue around the circle and take a left to exit the Lawson campus. Please refer to the Lawson overview map to locate the North entrance.
Our staff will be visible and present each day during car rider drop-off to help direct traffic and establish familiarity with traffic patterns. For afternoon pick-up, drivers may line up around the north parking lot. Please do not block the exit lane and do not pull into the north parking lot. Staff will be available to assist you during the first days of school.
Due to road repairs at the main entrance, two lanes will merge into one when exiting campus. All drivers will merge into one lane which allows both right and left turns at the light. Please be cautious and expect delays until the repairs are completed.

MNPS Bus Information
The Find My Bus Stop online tool provides families with the planned school bus route/stop information. Keep in mind that actual route and stop times might vary due to factors like driver shortages, traffic, or mechanical issues. If your student’s bus is more than 20 minutes late, you can call (615) 259-INFO (4636) for assistance. Remember to have your child arrive at the bus stop 10 minutes before the scheduled arrival time, and ensure they board and leave the bus at their assigned stop.
WeGo Public Bus Information
WeGo bus rides for MNPS high school students are provided free with their current year school ID (regular fares apply without MNPS ID). At the school, passengers will be picked up and dropped off at the same stop outside the building by the North lot.
