Welcome from the Freshman Academy Principal
Mrs. Shannon Fey
The Freshman Academy is designed to support students as they transition from middle school to high school. Teachers collaborate to develop common expectations for students and develop materials, activities, and events to support students' successful completion of their first year of high school.
The graduates of James Lawson High School will leave our halls with cherished memories and the life enriching teacher, coach, and staff interactions to develop the character, personal drive, and academic foundations to further their education and make a positive impact within their chosen careers and communities.
The Freshman Academy team at James Lawson will be supporting students using the BARR Model (Building Assets, Reducing Risks). Teams will meet weekly to discuss students’ successes and challenges. The team will put goals and supports in place to ensure student success. Parent collaboration will be key for your student’s success in the Freshman Academy.
Our goal is to assist our freshmen students as they navigate their introduction to high school. The team will support our students as they move through academics, athletics, and the arts. Our goal is to develop well-rounded students who will be able to make an informed decision about which college and career academy they will enroll in for their sophomore – senior years.
Welcome to a new school year at James Lawson High School! I am looking forward to working with you and your freshman this year at James Lawson High School. I cannot wait to meet the class of 2028!
