Your Senior Student Counselor: Ms. Swift
I’m Ms. Swift, your James Lawson High School College and Career Counselor. I earned my master’s degree in counseling at Vanderbilt University in 2020 and have been working in MNPS over the last four years. Prior to starting at Lawson in 2023, I served as the Lead Counselor at Antioch High School. While I didn’t study education as an undergraduate, I found my way into schools after graduating from college. Fun Fact: My first job after college was as a freshman math teacher in Dallas, Texas (if you need any algebra help, I’m here!). I love the college counseling process as it allows me to learn about the goals and passions of my students as they prepare for the next part of their educational journey. I’m in room 305 and my door is always open, come by the see me anytime!

My goal as the College and Career Counselor at James Lawson is for every student to have the agency, information, and opportunity to select their post-graduation plan, whether they decide to go to college, community college, technical school, the workforce, or the military.
